A BREAK IN TIME
For a few days last week and this Monday I took a much needed break. My wife and I planned a trip to Lake Placid, one of our favorite spots. We fretted over what to do with kids and the like, finally working out a plan that allowed us all a break and time together as well.
We were excited to get back to the place we were married a few years ago, and have been visiting over regularly for about a decade. The fall timing couldn’t have been better it seemed the foliage was at its peak and the air was crisp and cool. Amid the smells of birch and pine, as well as, burning wood in fireplaces we were treated to seeing a few of the 46 peaks snow capped before we left.
Through this blissful time and environment we were still inundated with news reports of the election and financial mess were in. The moments I thought would be dedicated to catching up on some reading I found myself sneaking peaks at CNN…Not Good. But bobble heads and politicos repeating doom and gloom over and over couldn’t take away from the view outside my window.
We returned Monday and as we ramped up getting ready for our Tuesday we talked about what a deep connection and affection we both have for areas like Lake Placid. As we spoke, we couldn’t help but smell the cool Lake Placid air and smile when looking back on our break in time.
